We are from the northern part of the US where there are four seasons in a year.
Last year, we relocated to a tropical area for my husband’s company and I must say that I am not impressed.
I was never a fan of winter when we lived up north but now I miss the snow. Actually what I miss is the first snowfall and sitting before a fire in the fireplace. Houses here don’t have fireplaces, or even furnaces. What little heat is needed here is supplied by a heating coil in the air conditioning system. Of course, if I was up north dealing with the snow, I’m sure I would appreciate this tropical climate more. This is our first winter here, and I must admit that the weather is gorgeous, but I anticipate missing the blooming spring wildflowers and the return of singing birds. Of course you hear birds all year long here, but, it’s not the same. And, now that I think about it, I’m not looking forward to the scorching summers here, and the constant need of air conditioning. We have a really good HVAC system in our house, but, sometimes you have to go outside. I know I’m not really looking forward to scorching summers. We were here last fall, and I wasn’t really impressed then either. It was still hot enough to need the air conditioning every day and there were no beautiful fall colors like we had in the north. Palm forms don’t turn orange and drop to the ground. I’m not impressed by this place at all.
