Knowing when to give up on your ductwork system

Unfortunately, due to such ignorant yet innocent neglect, the ductwork deteriorates slowly to a point where there is no going back

Ductwork can be frustrating when they stop doing the tasks they are meant to. If you constantly have to call your HVAC technician to check whether the ductwork is clean enough or if there is a different issue with it, then it is time you had a rethink about the entire system. Like all other mechanical or even electrical systems, these units have a lifespan beyond which they start to slacken and even deliver dismally. Therefore, it is essential to understand when to consider a new installation rather than constantly investing in continuous repairs that only take up your cash. However, going by timelines, your HVAC ductwork can last up to 25 years. The only problem is that it slows down by the time it is 15 years old and will probably not be what you enjoyed in the earlier years. While you can still insist on having it work for the next decade, the chances are that you will be compromising on a few other things, including the quality of the air you breathe in the house. It is also possible that the energy bills will slowly start increasing, which is not something that many homeowners love. This doesn’t mean that the ductwork cannot serve you for 25 years without hitches. It is possible. However, the reality is that most homeowners ignore the ductwork probably because it is the least difficult part of the entire HVAC system. Unfortunately, due to such ignorant yet innocent neglect, the ductwork deteriorates slowly to a point where there is no going back. Unless you are the kind of person that takes care of their ductwork religiously, then you should consider changing the unit after fifteen years. However, many homeowners can save a lot if they paid more attention to their HVAC units because they do much more than anyone imagines.
