Looking for ways to save energy, blinds

What a day it’s been already.

  • I hate dealing with adult tasks, and yet it seems like there’s no end to the phonecalls and emails that have to be made to sort through daily life.

I’m always calling my credit card company and utility providers to dispute charges and put cash back in my bank account. The last thing I need is inefficient household appliances to undo all my difficult efforts. That’s why my heating, cooling, and air quality control equipment has been such a thorn in my side for the past several months. I guess the trouble all started when my indoor air handling equipment stopped being able to keep up with the climate changes that regularly rocked our region. Out of the blue, our normal daily temperatures increased by about 20 degrees, placing a great deal of pressure on our central heating and cooling system to keep up with the increasing outdoor air temperature and pounding sunshine. It felt like no matter how much I adjusted the thermostat to keep up with the heat and humidity, my central cooling system was dropping the ball. Eventually I decided that it was time to do something about my indoor air quality that didn’t involve directly messing with my AC unit or thermostat. I would try to contain the cold air inside and keep the warm air outside, instead. This is when I found out about insulating blinds and curtains. Apparently, there are window coverings that work to seal in your cool air and block out sunshine, to improve your indoor air temperature control without increasing energy bills. These days, I’m finally feeling cool and relaxed.
