As soon as I got to work last Friday, I immediately called my boss and the manager of the restaurant where I currently work.
- I always start my day by pulling all of the fruit and vegetables out of the cold storage freezer.
When I opened the door, I knew something was wrong. I looked at the temperature on the thermostat by the door and it was only reading 41 degrees. The cold storage fridge is supposed to be 33 degrees at all times. I alerted my boss of the problem and she told me to call a local HVAC company that services boilers and chillers.I called the company and I tried to explain the problem with the cold storage freezer. The guy on the phone wanted more information than I could provide and I was starting to get confused and frustrated. I called my boss again and I told her that the guy from the HVAC repair service wanted to talk directly to her. It was a small lie, but I really didn’t want to deal with the HVAC repair service and all of my prep duties at the same time. About an hour after I arrived at work, my boss showed up as well. She didn’t look very happy about coming to work early, but she had to be certain that the cold storage freezer was fixed before we opened for lunch service. The repair took most of the morning. We had to change our lunch specials so we could cook some items that would have spoiled.
