We have the heat on in the living room and a fan on in the bedroom.

I am so very grateful that we no longer live in the north with it’s freezing winters and need for a good heating system. We live in a subtropical area now and when I woke up this morning, it was 50 degrees outside.

We had the heat on in the living room and the fan on in my bedroom.

This may sound strange to some people, especially around here where most people have central air conditioning and heating. But we don’t. When we bought this place last year the HVAC unit was shot and we haven’t had the money to replace it. So we use window air conditioners and space heaters to cool and heat our home. Now, normally we wouldn’t necessarily have the heat on when it’s 50 degrees outside. We are sheltered from the wind so we just used to throw on sweatshirts and socks and it wasn’t really all that cold and certainly not uncomfortable. But, now we have birds. We have started breeding finches and their cage is in the living room. Finches need to be kept warm, and they have babies in their nest right now, so we have the heat on in the living room. And, I hate running the heat. The air gets dry, my skin gets dry, my eyes get dry, my nose gets stuffy, so we rarely run the heat in the bedroom at night. I usually have the window air conditioner set on fan and we bundle up under the covers, even when it is 50 degrees.
