When we moved into our house, there was only a wood stove

When we bought our property a couple of years ago, there was a lot of work left to be done on it! It was definitely a fixer upper but we thought that we would be up for the challenge.

We did a ton of work on the place, but there is still a lot to be done.

One of the first things that we needed to do was upgrade the heating system. When we first moved in, it was in the fall and the weather was already cooling off. The only source of heating in the house at that point was this very old wood stove and we definitely didn’t want to have to chop wood all winter long to keep the house warm. So of course, one of the first things that we did was call and make an appointment with one of the local HVAC companies to have them come out and give us an estimate on a new heating system. We decided that since we were at it, we might as well just get central air conditioning put in at the same time because at least that way, we would have all of the HVAC work completed at the same time. We thought that it might save us some money too. I mean, most places will give you a better deal if you’re going to spend a whole lot of money at once instead of breaking it up into a lot of smaller purchases. We ended up installing a high efficiency heating and cooling system into the house and we are really loving it now. We kept the wood stove just for a sense of nostalgia and also as a secondary heating source just in case our new furnace breaks down.
