Technology changes but the idea i still the same

New technology can be scary, especially for older people like my husband and I.

It takes a month to learn how to use a new phone, computer, or electronic device.

We usually rely on the grandchildren to help us with applications or software questions. When we installed a new HVAC system in the house, the technician asked us if we wanted to upgrade to a programmable thermostat at no charge. He told us about the machine and it sounded complicated to use. The thermostat regulates the indoor temperature by communicating with the heating or cooling equipment. It’s a vital part of the HVAC system. I wanted to make the upgrade, but I didn’t know if I would be able to use the programmable thermostat. I told the HVAC technician to install the new equipment, but I made the guy go through all of the buttons before he left. It didn’t seem very complicated when the HVAC technician was explaining everything. He left a brochure and step by step guide with instructions for programming the temperature control equipment. As soon as he left, I forgot every piece of information that he provided. When it came time to change the temperature on the programmable thermostat, I was happy to see that it was just as easy as hitting the up and down button. I haven’t learned how to program the temperature settings yet, but at least I can adjust the temperature warmer or cooler. It seems that the HVAC technology has changed a lot in thirty years but the concept is still the same.
